21st June, 1947:- President Truman today accused the Russian Army of helping the Communist minority in Hungary to force changes in the Hungarian Government. At his press conference in Washington, the President, who is renown for his plain speaking, denounced the Communist coup as an outrage. He approved a sharp note of protest to be sent to the Soviet commander in Budapest, in which he accuses the Soviets of being responsible for the resignation and exile of Premier Nagy and of breaking the Yalta agreement.
