NOTHING NEW UNDER THE SUN (ALMOST)

27th July, 1900 : After days of fierce fighting, allied forces have stormed Tientsin and managed to hold the city despite determined attacks by 100,000 Boxer rebels and renegade Chinese soldiers. It is reported that 1,500 foreigners have been brutally massacred, including missionaries, traders and diplomats. The allied force, which involved British, American, German and Japanese troops, lost 400 men in the victorious assault.
