NOTHING NEW UNDER THE SUN (ALMOST)
13th October, 1924 : The Ford Motor Company, makers of the immensely popular T-Model car, confirmed in New York today that it intended to establish assembly and body building plants in Australia. Mr Campbell, the president of the company said the company planned to invest £1,400,000 in five assembly plants and one body building plant. Mr Campbell said it would be premature of the company to announce the sites or capacity of the plants, or when the work would commence. One plant would probably be in Melbourne. The result should be cheaper cars.
