NOTHING NEW UNDER THE SUN (ALMOST)

22nd October, 1904 : The fishing community of Hull was stunned to learn today that two of its trawlers had been sunk and their captains killed in an astonishing attack by ships of the Russian Baltic fleet. The trawlers were part of a fleet steaming off Dogger bank when they were fired on by vessels heading for Japan. The Russians claim two torpedo boats approached their ships, which is strongly contraindicated by witnesses.
