NOTHING NEW UNDER THE SUN (ALMOST)

26th November, 1914 : The British Imperial Command put Australian and New Zealand troops into a combined force under the command of Major-General William R Birdwood, who is now Secretary of Army Department in India. He saw Australian troops serve in the Boer War and is said to be delighted at commanding them against Germany. He is regarded as a dashing cavalry man, certain to get the Australians to the from and keep them there.
