NOTHING NEW UNDER THE SUN (ALMOST)

28th November, 1931 : American diplomacy ha scored a temporary success by arranging a truce in the three-week-old Manchurian war, provoked by Japan’s capture of Mukden. Henry Stimson, the US Secretary of State, has negotiated a truce while the League of Nations studies the situation. The Manchurian incident began with a surprise attack on Mukden launched by plotting officers of Kwantung army, stationed in Liaotung Peninsula and along the South Manchurian Railway.
