NOTHING NEW UNDER THE SUN (ALMOST)

30th November, 1920: Continuing moves around Australia for liquor prohibition had another setback today as Queenslanders voted to maintain the current system for the manufacture and sale of alcohol. In a compulsory poll, voters were given three options: State management of liquor, prohibition, or continuation of the present system. There was negligible support for the idea of State management of liquor and the ballot became a contest between wets and dries.
