NOTHING NEW UNDER THE SUN (ALMOST)

11th January, 1932 : A bomb explosion severely damaged a police station and injured a mounted policeman following a clash between some unemployed workers and the police at Pine Creek, in the Northern Territory last Saturday. The bomb exploded after police had evicted about 300 unemployed workers who had occupied the Pine Creek Hospital, demanding to be allowed to live in unused hospital quarters during the wet season. The Home Affairs Department is investigating the possible involvement of Communist activists in the protest and bombing.
