NOTHING NEW UNDER THE SUN (ALMOST)

30th June, 1921 : The revolution in Russia, the translation of the work of Karl Marx and the rise of a student movement have led to the formation this month of a Chinese Communist Party. The inaugural meeting, held at a girls’ school in Shanghai, called for overthrow of the capitalist class. Among those who attended this meeting was Mao Tsetung, who is a library assistant.

[Perhaps they ought to have another meeting, calling for overthrow of the capitalist class. It is more numerous now than in the twenties of the last century and more obnoxious.]
