3rd July, 1922 : About forty per cent of Aborigines in the Government compound in Darwin are infected with hookworm, according to a report from the chief health officer for the area. He says there is no danger to whites unless they live among natives, or go about barefoot. A hospital has been set up to treat the Aborigines. The health officer said there were occasional injuries from Sunday afternoon spear-throwing contests or corroborees, but they were slight as the spears were made from reed and had blunt tips.
