11th September, 1927 : Long hair for women and beards and moustaches for men are now out of date. That was the expert view today at the Hairdressing and Allied Trades exhibition in London. Women, encouraged by “scientific” assurances that they would not go bald through having their hair cut short, were being invited to shed their tresses for more avant-garde bobs. An Institute of Trichologists official also said baldness in Englishmen was likely to decrease as the fashion for shorter and healthier hair became more popular.

[Oh, those experts! Oh, those scientists!]
