…from the quill of Antisthenes the Younger
The same fate awaits all men, and women I add, so that I am not accused of misogyny in neither the old nor the new meaning of the word, and to be totally on the safe side, I declare to Ms Gillard, and her shield bearers Laurie Oakes and Paul Bongiorno that I did not look at my watch, nor did I [raise my eyebrows] whilst typing this. (For those not familiar with the exalted heights of public discourse in Australia, these are sure signs of misogyny nowadays) And no, I do not know whether her shield carries the motto: falsus in uno, falsus in omnibus, but I feel it could be possible. [Explanation – Roman Law]
While we are at those various sayings, there is one from Goldsmith, She Stoops to Conquer, III, 1 – Ask me no questions, and I’ll tell you no lies or A lie hath no feet (Because it cannot stand alone. In fact, a lie wants twenty others to support it, and even then is in constant danger of tripping – Brewer’s Dictionary of Phrase and Fable). My favourite is a Czech saying – Who lies, also steals. (Kdo lže, ten krade)
The ultimate fate of all is death, but Prime Minister apparently believes that her shrill denials might delay her more intermediate fate. Thus we hear how Australian Prime Minister, in accordance with her interpretation of the decorum required for the highest representative of the country, describes on the national television her former friend and accomplice: “a complete imbecile, an idiot, a stooge, a sexist pig, a liar, and his sister has said he’s a crook, and rotten to the core.” Some would think that such language, obviously de riguer in Labor circles, should stay in those circles. If you wondered why the word “Australian” is now judicially accepted as an insult in Great Britain, wonder no more. PM has worked on our reputation for quite some time now.
I know God’s mills grind slowly, but I wish, for the sake of Australia, that for once they could get a move on.
All but rusted on ABC audience know what it is all about. For them, I recommend to read the Brandis interview [in full], a few clicks bellow, though I know they won’t. Ignorance is bliss and Marx is their prophet.
The following song selection is not intended as a disparagement of any politician, especially not one for whom, after all, over 40% of population would still vote, nor does it professes to predict anybody’s future.
