Try, try again

…from the quill of Antisthenes the Younger

The poor bloke was never conscious of his limitations, and so he does not realise that his proper metier would be a clerk counting paper-clips in some government bureaucracy. Were it not for his over-ambitious wife, he could lead a happy life. Naturally, he is not the only married man in such a predicament; but why we have to suffer with him? We did not marry her.

A political expert Samantha Maiden wrote on Sunday 24th March: “By hanging his supporters out to dry on Thursday when he announced he wouldn’t challenge, Kevin Rudd proved once and for all he is unfit to lead the Labor Party.

I respectfully disagree. Rudd proved he is just the right person to lead the Australian Labor Party. He only confirmed that he is not fit to lead Australia, nor, for that matter, to organise an orgy in a brothel. That Labor had to turn to such a proven duplicitous incompetent, tells us, or ought to tell us, a lot about that party. True to his form, he deceived his comrades. Unless his wife finally accepts the futility of her efforts, he will try again.

About Antisthenes

A Greek philosopher, a pupil of Socrates. Led a revolt, with Diogenes, against the demands of the city-state and the sophistication of life. Accepted the interrelation of knowledge, virtue, and happiness; and sought the ideal condition for happiness in return to primitivism and self-sufficiency. Rejected all social distinctions as based on convention, scorned orthodox religion as a fabrication of lies, and studied early legends and animal life in order to arrive at a true understanding of natural law. The individual was free and self-sufficient when he was master of his passions, secure in his intelligence, impervious to social or religious demands, and satisfied with the poverty of a mendicant. Needless to say, a person who on the Fog of Chaos adopted the Athenian philosopher's name has nothing whatsoever in common with him.
