4th July, 1948 : The quarrel between Marshal Tito of Yugoslavia and the Russians, whom he accuses of trying to undermine him, has broken into open with the announcement by the Cominform that it has expelled the Yugoslav party and severely censured Tito. It accuses the Yugoslav leaders of “anti-Sovietism, Trotskyism, leaning towards capitalist states, inordinate ambition and grandeeism”. It urges the healthy elements to overthrow Tito.
