30th July, 1948 :At Malayan Communist insurgents suffered their heaviest setback so far today, when a powerful force of British troops and police wiped out a network of hide-outs near Kuala Lumpur. The raid took rebels by surprise and at least 22 of them were killed and 47 captured with no military or police casualties reported. This latest victory for the security forces comes just days after the Communist Party was banned in Malaya.
