Un-biased ABC

…from the quill of Antisthenes the Younger

Think lies – Think ABC. In the last thirty years or so the personnel of the taxpayer funded Australian Broadcasting Commission became the shameless purveyors of the Labor propaganda, the Greens party propaganda, eco-lies, mushy sentimentality and institutional mediocrity. They are so dishonest that they would cheat on their mistresses.

There are thousands of examples of their unmitigated bias and horrendous factual errors, sometimes discernible even by those who have no other source of information but “their” ABC. For those “The ABC Watch”, a website dedicated to publicising the errors, omissions, and substandard reports produced by the News service and related entities of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (link at our sidebar), is always a reliable counter-point.

The ABC bias is sometimes blatant, sometimes subtle. By ‘subtle’ I do not mean only the the facial expressions and the tone of voice of the newsreaders – as if they had bitten into a lemon when Bush or Abbott has to be mentioned; practically sliding off the chair when reciting something about Hussein Obama or Christine Milne.

An example of the blatant propaganda is the glorification of fraudulent Suzuki, an apocalypse-monger from Canada. Andrew Bolt: “David Suzuki on the very first question is revealed as a complete know-nothing. His questioner tells him that the main climate data sets show no real warming for some 15 years.

Suzuki asks for the references, which he should have known if he knew anything of the science.

His questioner then lists them: UAH, RSS, HadCrut and GISS – four of the most basic measurement systems of global temperature.

Suzuki asks what they are.

Anyone interested in global warming should know right there that Suzuki has absolutely no understanding of what he is talking about.”

In a subtle way, the March 2011 natural disaster in Japan is constantly referred to as the Fukushima nuclear disaster. The death toll for the Tōhoku earthquake and subsequent tsunami is 15,883 (with 2,654 missing), while at the Fukushima nuclear plant 2 people died. They went to inspect the plant after the earthquake, before the tsunami waters arrived and drowned.

Another example – Shortly before the last federal elections ABC ran an item about Warren Truss, wondering – what do we know about him? In the last ditch attempt to sway the unthinking, ABC News watching voters, ABC pretended to suddenly discover that Mr Truss, as the Leader of the National Party of Australia would be PM Abbott’s Deputy. What a horror! What if Abbott wins and then, when he is away, this unknown man will be in charge!

So ABC would lead us to believe that Warren Truss, the Member of the House of Representatives since 1990 and the leader of the Federal National Party since 2007, has been in the hiding? Refusing to talk to journalists?

Unlikely, but ABC was too busy gushingly reporting Gillard’s knitting efforts and Rudd’s knifing practice.

It would be laughable, were it not financed by a taxpayer.

Their” ABC is proudly copying the BBC in just about everything, but avoids any mention of the numerous scandals its ideological sister and mentor has been floundering in, for example:

If ABC were logical and consistent, a la their hysteria about the British Newscorp telephone hacking enquiry, it should call for enquiries into paedophilia in its ranks, into the cover-up of paedophilia, overpayments of retiring hacks, waste and the SBS duplication. But just as the BBC ‘sneerocracy’ (Melanie Philips’ word) they will not; the socialists are consistent only in their duplicity.

I think it is impossible to un – bias ABC. It ought to be scattered to the four winds.

I read somewhere that BBC presenters were directed to use the term “militants”, when describing the Muslim murderers in Nairobi. Sure enough, BCC World Service (morning 26-09-13) used that word only, so out of curiosity I watched the ABC Midday Report. Yes, they sing from the same hymn sheet, shamelessly. High time to get rid of them.

About Antisthenes

A Greek philosopher, a pupil of Socrates. Led a revolt, with Diogenes, against the demands of the city-state and the sophistication of life. Accepted the interrelation of knowledge, virtue, and happiness; and sought the ideal condition for happiness in return to primitivism and self-sufficiency. Rejected all social distinctions as based on convention, scorned orthodox religion as a fabrication of lies, and studied early legends and animal life in order to arrive at a true understanding of natural law. The individual was free and self-sufficient when he was master of his passions, secure in his intelligence, impervious to social or religious demands, and satisfied with the poverty of a mendicant. Needless to say, a person who on the Fog of Chaos adopted the Athenian philosopher's name has nothing whatsoever in common with him.
