12th November, 1933 : Chancellor Hitler was today given popular support for his decision to walk out of the Geneva Disarmament Conference. In the plebiscite on the issue, 95 percent of voters said Yes. And in the voting for the one-party Reichstag, the Nazis received 92 percent of the votes. Spoiled papers accounted for the rest. Throughout the afternoon Nazi Storm-troopers went from door to door, sending off to polling station anyone unable to produce the metal disc stamped with the word “Ja” handed out when a ballot is cast. In the Dachau concentration camp outside Munich, 2,154 out of 2,242 inmates voted for the regime that imprisoned them.
