slovo.mendela20th May, 1983 : A blue Alfa-Romeo parked outside the multi-storey HQ of the South African Air Force in Pretoria exploded at the height of the evening rush-hour. Employees, both black and white, were thronging the pavement as they came out of the building. At least 16 people were killed and 190 injured. It was the worst single terrorist attack yet in South Africa and Louis le Grange, the Minister for Law and Order, blamed it on the exiled black nationalists in the African National Congress.
