Flight to nowhere

…from the quill of Antisthenes the Younger

When I heard that MH17 Malaysia plane crashed in Ukraine my first thought was – how long before CIA is blamed? I didn’t have to wait long. I turned on the TV and flipped through the channels.

Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s coverage was predictably despicable. There is not only bias, but also incompetence. I think I mentioned it before, but the Australia’s Left propaganda practitioners would not last a minute in TASS of unblessed memory. [yes, I did: Fog of Chaos – Spirit of Compromise “…the obscenely overpaid, severely unprofessional hacks, who, by the way, would be unemployable in the offices of Pravda, TASS or Izvestia of unlamented memory for their propagandising would be too inane for a literate nation.”] The commercial media are infested with second-rate leftists, barely capable of honestly reporting traffic accidents. Thus the Spanish Telediario, re-broadcast in Australia with approximately 12 hours delay, reported things which the ABC News 24 channel proudly claimed as the “breaking news” the next day. Simply, if you rely on the Australian media, you will live in blissful ignorance and vote Labor for ever after.

It didn’t take long and the international socialist directive arrived, helped of course by Abbott’s grandstanding – for our media whatever Abbott does or says is a priori wrong. From a safe distance, and not having to worry about Russian gasan angry Prime Minister Tony Abbott has demanded an independent inquiry into the downing of a Malaysian jetliner after criticising Russia’s response as being “deeply, deeply unsatisfactory. I have to tell you that the initial response of the Russian ambassador was to blame Ukraine for this, and I have to say that this is deeply, deeply unsatisfactory,” he said, saying the crash was “not an accident, but a crime”. “The idea that Russia can somehow say that none of this has anything to do with them, because it happened in Ukrainian airspace, frankly does not stand up to any serious scrutiny.”

Uplifting as Abbott’s pronouncements may have been to naïve conservatives, we know that his promises are worthless – Fog of Chaos – Abbott’s promises or Quadrant – Why hast thou forsaken us, Mr Abbott.

When it became clear that the Russian fingers were on or near the ‘pusk’ (Fire) button, predictable leftist excuses started emerging. The first one was that Malaysia Airlines, in order to save fuel, flew over an area which other airlines avoid. True, some do, but some don’t. That week, according to Flight radar24, flew over Donetsk quite a few aircraft – Aeroflot (86 flights), Singapore Airlines (75), Ukraine International Airlines (62), Lufthansa (56), and Malaysia Airlines (48). Flights that fateful day are shown here:

planefinderflightanalysisIt seems clear that both Ukrainian SA 11 ‘Buk’ anti-aircraft missile battery and at least one pro-Russian controlled ‘Buk’ were operational near the MH17’s crash. A ‘Buk’ surface-to-air missile is perfectly capable of bringing down jets flying at 33,000 ft, though its radar range is somewhat limited. Theoretically, Ukrainians could have done the deed in order to swing the world’s opinion against the rebels. In practice, it would be exceedingly stupid as, with the modern satellite and electronic surveillance methods, they would be sure to be found out.

Of course, the recordings of the wireless communications between rebels would be easy to fabricate, yet :

Male voice, captioned as “The Greek” ] Yes, Major.

[Major] Well, the Chernukhino lads shot down the plane.

[Greek] Who shot it down?

[Major] From the Chernukhino roadblock. The Cossacks at Chernukhino.

[Greek] Yes, Major.

[Major] Well, the plane fell apart in the air, near the Pertropavlovskaya coal mine. The first casualty 200 [military jargon for dead body] has been found. A civilian.

[Greek] Well, what do you have there?

[Major] Basically it was 100% a civilian aircraft.

[Greek] Are many people there?

[Major] [Curses] The debris fell right into backyard.

[Greek] What kind of aircraft?

[Major] I have not figured this out yet because I haven’t been close to the main body of the debris. I am only looking where the first bodies began to fall. There are the remnants of inner brackets, chairs and bodies there.

[Greek] I see. Any weaponry there?

[Major] Nothing at all. Civilian things, medical bits and bobs, towels, toilet paper.

[Greek] Any documents?

[Major] Yes. From an Indonesian student. From Thompson University [curses].

At that time only pro-Russian personnel was anywhere near the crash site. If Ukrainians shot down the plane and fabricated the recordings (very fast or even beforehand) they would have to have quite detailed information about the passengers. An Indonesian student could be a guess, but Thompson University? This could be now easily checked and while the apologists are coming up with all sorts of theories reminiscent of the Kennedy shooting and CIA crashing two planes into the World Centre, they prudently avoid any mention of the incriminating voice records.

The most likely explanation is a plain error on the part of the operators of a Russia-supplied surface-to-air missile. It seems unlikely that they would really intend to kill 298 foreigners.

I do not wish to dwell on the obvious Russian designs on Ukraine or, for that matter, on the planned expansion of the Russian empire. Those interested ought to read Anne ApplebaumUnhinged Russia and Quadrant – Putin’s Rasputin by Merv Bendle. After reading the above, one can not lightly dismiss the possibility that the shoting down a civilian plane was the Putin’s test for Obama and NATO. It would emphasise the stark reality to Europeans – you are on your own, I can do anything.

About Antisthenes

A Greek philosopher, a pupil of Socrates. Led a revolt, with Diogenes, against the demands of the city-state and the sophistication of life. Accepted the interrelation of knowledge, virtue, and happiness; and sought the ideal condition for happiness in return to primitivism and self-sufficiency. Rejected all social distinctions as based on convention, scorned orthodox religion as a fabrication of lies, and studied early legends and animal life in order to arrive at a true understanding of natural law. The individual was free and self-sufficient when he was master of his passions, secure in his intelligence, impervious to social or religious demands, and satisfied with the poverty of a mendicant. Needless to say, a person who on the Fog of Chaos adopted the Athenian philosopher's name has nothing whatsoever in common with him.

Poor buggers lost their way? – “KIEV – About 2,000 Russian servicemen have been killed so far in the conflict in eastern Ukraine, Ukrainian military spokesman Andriy Lysenko said on Friday, citing intelligence data. It was not possible to independently confirm the figure.

Russia denies sending its troops into Ukraine in support of pro-Russian separatists battling the Kiev government’s forces. Kiev and its Western backers say there is overwhelming evidence to prove the direct involvement of Russian troops in the fighting in eastern Ukraine.

Moscow said Russian soldiers recently captured by Ukrainian forces had lost their way during a training exercise.”
