NOTHING NEW UNDER THE SUN (ALMOST)
9th October, 1913: Pilots are trying new stunts almost daily. One has just carried nine passengers on a biplane at Hendon, while others perform the impossible with the loop-the-loop. Thousands watched a French pilot, Adolphe Pegoud, loop-the-loop at Brooklands field. He switched the engine off and turned his Bleriot monoplane onto its back for thirty seconds. He said afterwards that it was “as comfortable as sitting at home in an armchair”.
