NOTHING NEW UNDER THE SUN (ALMOST)
17th October, 1906: Newspapers may soon be able to publish pictures taken on the other side of Atlantic. Today a picture was transmitted by telegraph over more than a thousand miles by German professor Arthur Korn. Korn has built on an invention of Italian physicist Luigi Cerebotani, for taking a photograph a small part at at time and producing from each part an electrical current corresponding to its shade of grey.
