20th February, 1911 : South Australia launched an attack today to shift the Victorian border two-and-a half miles east, but fighting will take place in the High Court rather than in the field. The plaintiff is claiming 340,000 acres, saying the border is not where it should be, namely the 141st meridian of longitude. South Australia also wants compensation – mean profits for the area since 1850. Victoria says the present boundary has always been recognised and rejects the compensation claim.
