29th August, 1903 : The details of the atrocities perpetrated on all sides in the anarchy sweeping the Balkans continues to horrify the civilised world. The terrible stories emerging from the mountains tell of the whole villages being put to the sword, of women raped and even of small children being bayoneted. The murder of officials is commonplace, and government is breaking down. Order is kept only by the army, but it is in a parlous state.

About Ludwig von Gress

Born in communist Europe, interested in defence matters on a macro scale, with a cavalry “devil may care spirit” from his grandfather and cautious effectiveness of asymmetric warfare approach from his guerilla father. He sometimes despairs that he may be the only one taking the defence of Australia seriously.
