NOTHING NEW UNDER THE SUN (ALMOST)
3rd December, 1927 : The year has been disconcerting one for physicists with the publication of Werner Heisenberg’s Uncertainty Principle, which undermines the whole idea of exact measurement. The Principle is that more precisely you try to fix the position of a body, the more uncertain is its momentum, and vice versa. Fortunately the degree of uncertainty is very small.
The year also saw new evidence emerge about Java man, who lived half a million years ago. Experts believe he may be a missing link between apes and humans.
[ The times have changed. Now scientists, and especially climate “scientists”, now are absolutely certain of everything. Computer models told them so.]
