Carnarvon.cyclone28th March, 1960 : Little remains this afternoon of Carnarvon, a small port in north-western Australia that was ravaged early today by a vicious cyclone. Hundreds have lost their homes, torn apart like toys in the path of whirling 110-mile-an-hour winds. Scores have been left homeless, savings of lifetime wiped out in one fateful morning. Refugees are still straggling into the centre of town, where sturdier buildings weathered the gale with only minor damage.
