Podzim

…from the quills of the dead white poets

Karel Toman (18771946)

Hle, stříbrná hvězda

v modřínech tryskla na pokraji lesa.

A zádumčivý večer závoj stáh

na svět i duše.

Kdes v pustnoucí vile

alt vroucí zpívá. Výsklo ve mně srdce.

Oh, hnědé oči, vlasy rozjiskřené,

vášnivé vlasy!

Jak stisk by mi hrdlo

kdos cizí rukopu silnou (listí padá)

a do uší mi křičel vysměvačně:

Quijote, amen.
