NEWS FROM THE FRONT

No pain no gain – but unfortunately unnecessary pain when the obvious dangers are ignored. Politicians suffer no pain – you do.

3rd October, 1940 : The ships of Force M which took part in the action against Dakar from 23 to 25 September, leave Freetown, where they had taken refuge, and escort the Free French forces to Douala in the French Cameroons. They are not accompanied by the battleships Barham and Resolution, which have sailed for the Mediterranean: the Resolution to put into Gibraltar for repairs to the damage suffered in the action off Dakar.
