4th October, 1940 : Hitler and Mussolini meet at Brenero on the Brenner Pass. Hitler urges that no action be undertaken which is not ‘of absolute use to the Axis’. The two foreign ministers, Ribbentrop and Ciano, are present, and also the German Commander-in-Chief, Keitel. The Führer offers military aid in North Africa, but the Duce declines the offer.

About Ludwig von Gress

Born in communist Europe, interested in defence matters on a macro scale, with a cavalry “devil may care spirit” from his grandfather and cautious effectiveness of asymmetric warfare approach from his guerilla father. He sometimes despairs that he may be the only one taking the defence of Australia seriously.
