No pain no gain – but unfortunately unnecessary pain when the obvious dangers are ignored. Politicians suffer no pain – you do.

5th January, 1941 : Bardia falls to the British, despite staunch resistance from general Bergonzoli’s troops. The British take about 40,000 prisoners, with 462 guns,129 light tanks and more than 700 trucks. British casualties are 456 killed and wounded. General Bergonzoli manages to withdraw from Bardia and reach Tobruk with a few thousand men.
