17th January, 1978 : The Premier of South Australia, Don Dunstan, today fired his Police Commissioner and disbanded the state’s police special branch after an inquiry found that the police had 3,000 secret files and had more than 40,000 people and organisations kept “under notice”. Mr Dunstan said the Police Commissioner, Harold Salisbury, had misled the Government over the activities of the special branch whose targets for surveillance included judges, former Governors, all Labor Party Parliamentarians, clergymen and academics.

[ No need today – judges, former Governors, Labor Party Parliamentarians, clergymen and academics now work openly to make Australia a socialist appendage of China ]
