No pain no gain – but unfortunately unnecessary pain when the obvious dangers are ignored. Politicians suffer no pain – you do.

27th January, 1941 : The Italian Foreign Minister, Galeazzo Ciano, arrives on the Greek front to take over command of a bomber group. The other members of the government are also sent to the front. Mussolini seems to want to demonstrate either that, members of the government are not exempt from combat duty, or that Italy can be governed just as well without the ministers.

The United States ambassador in Tokyo reports to his government that the Japanese Imperial Staff is preparing plans to attack American air and naval bases in the Pacific. He particularly mentions Pearl Harbour.
