No pain no gain – but unfortunately unnecessary pain when the obvious dangers are ignored. Politicians suffer no pain – you do.

6th February, 1941 : First Benghazi victory. Australian troops enter the city. More than 80 Italian tanks destroyed. Bergonzoli and six senior generals are among many thousands of prisoners taken.


In Berlin Hitler receives General Erwin Rommel, who is to command the Afrikakorps which is being sent to support the Italian army in Libya. Although technically under the command of General Albert Kesselring, commander of the southern operational sector which includes Italy and the Mediterranean, Rommel is to have direct access to Hitler.
