NEWS FROM THE FRONT

No pain no gain – but unfortunately unnecessary pain when the obvious dangers are ignored. Politicians suffer no pain – you do.

6th July, 1941 : In the southern sector Rumanian troops occupy the town of Chernovtsy, just over the Carpathians, and are given an enthusiastic welcome by the population. In the outskirts of Vitebsk, not far from Smolensk, the 16th Army of the Army Group North makes contact with the 9th Army of the Army Group Centre. The northernmost German army, the 18th, continues its advance north, establishing a line from Lake Peipus through Tartu to Parnu, north of the Gulf of Riga.

Italian and German aircraft bomb the Tobruk fortress and the area of Sidi Barrani.
