No pain no gain – but unfortunately unnecessary pain when the obvious dangers are ignored. Politicians suffer no pain – you do.

9th July, 1941 : Russian resistance in all the pockets not already liquidated comes to an end. Up to this time the Soviet army has lost 2,500 tanks, and 300,000 of its men have been taken prisoner. In the Bialystok sector, 40 divisions have been wiped out. The II and III Panzergruppen (Guderian and Hoth), combined to form the 4th Armoured Army, advance beyond the rivers Dniepr and Dvina towards Smolensk, on the way to Moscow.
