NEWS FROM THE FRONT

No pain no gain – but unfortunately unnecessary pain when the obvious dangers are ignored. Politicians suffer no pain – you do.

7th November, 1941 : Central sector: during the night it freezes. No longer held by the mud, the Germans prepare to resume their offensive against Moscow; but soon ‘General Vinter’ will be holding them up once more.

The ‘Lend-Lease’ Act is extended to the USSR, though in fact the USA has been sending aid to the Russians since September. Between 1 October 1941 and 31 May 1945 the USA sends 2,660 ships to the Soviet Union, with 15,239,791 tons of foodstuffs and materials – most of all trucks, but also tanks, locomotives and complete chemical plants.
